Making beautiful furniture in America is our passion. Not a day goes by that we don’t recognize how fortunate we are to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and come to work along side true artisans who take great pride in everything they do. Whether they are forging hot metal or hand planing a solid wood tabletop, you can see and feel a “sense of hand” in every piece they make. There are no high-speed production lines―each piece is made one at a time, by hand. Our furniture is beautiful, but it is designed to be used―not pampered.

And speaking of “not pampered,” not only do we make residential furniture, we make furniture for restaurants, hotels, resorts, assisted living facilities, offices, conference rooms, kitchen cabinet suppliers, granite and marble fabrication houses (who need strong bases to support their heavy tops).

We’ve made furniture for well-known retailers such as Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, and Bloomingdales, just to name a few. We even made a custom bed for a famous boxer who had a body almost as big as his ego! Our customers love the fact that we offer customization along with a multitude of wood and metal finishes and a nice selection of designer leathers and fabrics.

Our current products and newest designs are sold through a network of retail dealers and professional interior designers. We encourage you to click on “Where to Buy” to find a dealer near you.

When you purchase a fine quality design from MacKenzie-Dow, you'll experience a surprisingly timeless blend of Old World heritage and modern-day practicality. That's because we specialize in the craftsmanship of superb quality 17th and 18th-century European-inspired solid wood furnishings that resonate as well today as they did years ago.

Situated in West Virginia, our local craftsmen and women employ centuries-old woodworking and joinery techniques to construct elegant creations that promise both enduring value and sophisticated style. Working with Wild Black Cherry, a species native to America's abundant Appalachian forests, we appreciate nature's blemishes that do not affect the structural integrity of our product. In fact, small splits, knots and other natural "defects" become attributes rather than flaws with the addition of an unparalleled finish that begs to be touched, not to mention used in a home full of life. At MacKenzie-Dow, we don't make excuses for the ingrained characteristics of solid Appalachian Black Cherry. In fact, we celebrate them with an incomparably soft, hard-planed finish that lets nature do all the talking.

Red Egg was founded in 1997 as an importer of antiques from all parts of Asia. What began as a true one-of-a-kind, vintage and antique business, evolved quickly into an accent-furniture and accessory company with products being bench made exclusively for us in Asia and the USA. Red Egg is known for being one of the first accent furniture companies to take classic Asian furniture and lacquer it with bold, fun colors. Carol Gregg, the founder, owner and Chief Hen of Red Egg describes their design philosophy as “creating Asian inspired pieces with an East meets West lifestyle sensibility. We use sophisticated but fun colors to re-create classic furniture so that it becomes something new and trend-forward. Our customers have come to depend on us to deliver well made products that are also fresh and interesting.”

Red Egg distributes nationwide and operates out of its office and showroom in High Point, North Carolina. While still sourcing and manufacturing our cane collections, Indochine and Moderne Maru, in the Philippines, our focus for our wood product is to manufacture all of it here in the USA. Our entire Double Happiness, Shanghai Loft, and chang’e lamp collections are made in the USA. Our Cane, rattan and wicker product from the Philippines is also now being finished in our signature low gloss lacquer colors here in the USA.

Along with our signature furniture and accessories collections, Red Egg offers a customizable collection of hand-knotted wool and silk rugs from Nepal. The Carol Gregg rug collection is designed by the founder of Red Egg whose passion and background is textile design. Every rug is hand made to order and can be customized in both color and scale. Red Egg also offers a bath accessories collection, wetter for Red Egg, which is designed by wetter indochine and manufactured in Vietnam by local craftspeople who specialize in rattan and lacquer crafts.

Red Egg currently exhibits at the High Point International Home Furnishings Market. Interior Designers, Architects and Boutique Lifestyle Retailers have been our main customer focus throughout our 18 years in business. Our product can be purchased through the trade and on select websites.

Uwharrie Chair’s unique outdoor furniture collections combine classic American styling with extraordinary comfort and character.  These heavy, generously scaled products are crafted from kiln-dried pressure treated southern yellow pine, an American renewable resource or Premium Uwharrie Polymer, a recycled pre-consumer vinyl.  A distressed finish treatment provides an antique, weathered appearance; upon request product can be painted with no distressing.   Hand crafted to your construction needs and price needs, these chairs and their companion pieces will provide comfort and character.

Our wooden outdoor furniture is crafted of hand selected, domestically harvested, pressure treated solid pine.  Available in 1” thick pine, the wood of choice for ski lodge decks, marina docks and landscape walks, treated lumber offers distinct advantages over the traditional outdoor materials, it may be stained or painted (or left natural), and it’s milled from a renewable resource: plantation grown southern pine.  Uwharrie Chair Company’s 1” thick wooden outdoor furniture has a limited lifetime warrantee against rot, water damage and insect infestation.. As the pine ages naturally in all our wood products, you should expect to see some additional loss of paint and some surface cracking.  Our outdoor furniture crafted from Premium Uwharrie Polymer has a hand painted matte finish that provides the luxurious look and feel of wood, with the ability to touch up stained or faded surfaces.  It’s perfect for outdoor use; warranted for a lifetime against splitting, rotting, decaying, chipping, water damage and insect infestation.
